Broccoli Street Build, Roseburg

Get in on the Ground Floor as a Habitat Volunteer

Submitted by Robin Hartmann, Executive Director, Umpqua Valley Habitat for Humanity

How do you build a house? It’s easy - one board at a time. That’s especially true when it’s being done by a crew of dedicated volunteers under the patient guidance of our Umpqua Valley Habitat construction manager.

With the new year beginning, Habitat is preparing to build at 668 W Broccoli Street in Roseburg, and we welcome additional helping hands!   Whether you are new to construction or an old hand, there is a way for you to contribute on the jobsite or by helping feed our hungry crew at lunchtime.  In fact, Habitat also needs help throughout the week to pick up materials and with other simple tasks.

We will be building throughout 2019 on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and also the first and third Saturdays each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.   Currently, we're engaged in site-prep including demolition of the small dilapidated structure currently on the site. Next step is foundation, then joists, floors and walls. Please join us in the fun.

As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work.”  Please give us a call if you want to get outdoors this summer, enjoy the uplifting company of other volunteers and work alongside our future homeowners to help build a brighter future for their families.
